Our Story

Meet The Band

Michelle Bermingham, is an experienced and accomplished lead vocalist and performer who never fails to win the hearts of any audience. Michelle’s love for music began at the early age of 2 when her parents discovered her obvious musical talent and willingness to sing anywhere and for anyone. With a thirst for more, Michelle began to learn the flute and classical piano at the age of 9 and at the age of 10, she commenced vocal training under the instruction of Jenny Polley.

At the age of 11, Michelle landed her first professional role in the prestigious Opera Australia’s captivating production of Carmen. In her senior school years, Michelle was selected to form part of two small chamber groups known as La Capella Singers and The Camerata Singers respectively; an esteemed achievement.

Michelle has performed as a lead vocalist in many Brisbane bands and duos across the live music scene of Brisbane and has performed at many landmark venues across the East Coast of Australia, including singing at the Pan Pacific Games, at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, in 2018, to a crowd of over 4000 people. She has been a touring member of Australia’s number 1, nationally acclaimed tribute show, ARRIVAL AUSTRALIA, for 10 years, playing the role of Frida Lyngstad. Michelle leaves audiences captivated by her pure, clear voice and unmistakable Frida mannerisms, replicating the perfect sound and performance at every show. With over 30 years’ experience at performing live, Michelle really knows how to put on a show!

Sally is a dynamic vocalist with a rich background in music and performance. She began her journey at local eisteddfods in Brisbane and Queensland, participating in community musicals from a young age. Her early talent earned her a vocal scholarship to Clayfield College, where she developed her skills in Jazz Voice and Classical Flute at Queensland's Young Conservatorium, studying under Irene Bartlett.

As a young adult, she performed in various duos and cover bands, fostering her passion for contemporary music & performance.

Her musical education continued in Melbourne, where she studied Jazz Voice at Monash University and Arts Management at the Victorian College of the Arts, while also gaining experience in cabaret performance. Later, Sally completed a Master’s in Choral Methodology and a Graduate Certificate in vocal pedagogy at the Conservatorium, where she cultivated a deep love for contemporary vocal styles.

Throughout her career, Sally has run her own singing studio and taken on exciting performance roles, including Frida in an ABBA tribute band and Lead Vocalist for Queensland’s Jindalee Jazz Orchestra, over the last two years. Today, she continues to perform in duos and other musical collaborations.

Trained by several guitar teachers earlier in his career, Steve continues to study guitar techniques and music theory to ensure best performance. Whether a pumping rock, funky disco, dance or subtle picking style, Steve is at home on stage delivering high quality guitar work for the audience.

Having played music since the age of 15, Steve has played in local performing covers bands, including Nu.f.x, and he co-founded Witchunt. These bands played at a variety of venues, large and small, giving Steve a vast experience in various performing environments.

Steve's BIO

Shane has been a bassist for over 35 years, pumping out thumping grooves and driving bottom-end for numerous covers and originals bands across south-east Queensland. Whether its live performances, or studio recordings, Shane’s focus is on delivering tight rhythms that keep the punters jumping.

Shane’s musical influences started young. Music was a constant. Classic rock, disco and pop rock LPs were on continual rotation. This wide array of influences has enabled Shane to apply the craft of bass in covers bands, including The Bullwinkles and Witchunt, performing in many Brisbane haunts and at numerous rock awards.

Shane's creative grooves, riffs and licks can be heard and felt on recordings with originals band EJ Moped. He is thrilled to continue the 'Uptimez' with musical partner-in-crime and Witchunt guitarist, Steve Kerridge.

Mal
Hornburg

Mal has had a passion for playing the drums since age 6. He spent his early years learning from his mentors and renowned drummers, Russell Franklin (White Boomers) and Don Lebler (AXIUM and Avengers).

Mal was a founding member of the 1990's popular Brisbane Cover Band, Nu.f.x, He has also played in various cover bands throughout Queensland, including the Greg Doolan Band (formerly of Wikety Wak).

After a few years hiatus, raising 6 children with his wife Kristy, Mal has Jumped back behind the kit, to return to his love of music, with Uptimez Band.

Mal's heavy snare work lends itself to his rock background, while his subtle accents keep the backbeat in the pocket, complementing the groove of Uptimez Band, leaving every audience entertained.

Tim has been playing keys and singing lead/backup vocals around Melbourne and Brisbane for a few decades now. He’s no stranger to party bands that love to give the audience a great time. He has been a valued member of many successful bands in Brisbane, including: Delta Express, OctoFunk and GR8Co.

In his Melbourne days, Tim supported many classic Aussie rock legends, mainly playing original songs. He rose to fame when he played on the Countdown Easter Show, with his band, My Imagination, being introduced by Molly Meldrum. Yes, the clip is still there on YouTube!

Tim feels that his Keys playing gives added texture to a band that many guitar-only outfits can’t match. Coupled with this, Tim has the additional flexibility to sing lead and backup vocals in order to fill out the vocal sound of the band.
